
Habitat: In sandy areas and coastal dunes, often forming dense monospecific forests.
Distribution: Japan, Taiwan and southeastern China.
Description: Single-stemmed, hermaphroditic palm, up to 15 meters tall, with a brown to greyish trunk marked by leaf scars, bright green palmate leaves 2–3 meters long forming a globose or ovoid crown, pale white basal inflorescence and small black fruits.
