13,80

The quintessential rustic palm tree

An incredibly hardy palm with a moderate growth rate, cultivated since ancient times. Its cultivation is so widespread that the natural distribution and habitat of this species are difficult to determine with certainty. Some specimens planted in Plovdiv (Bulgaria) managed to survive temperatures as low as -27.5°C, breaking the record for the lowest known temperature that any palm tree has ever endured.

Habitat: On hills and mountains between 100 and 2,400 meters above sea level.

Distribution: South and central China.

Description: A single-trunked, dioecious palm tree, up to 15 meters tall, with a trunk covered in fibers from the ligules of the leaves, dark green palmate leaves up to 2 meters long, yellowish inflorescence and small black fruits.
