
Habitat: Natural rainforest and relatively undisturbed scrub, mainly on elevated ground on the islands.
Distribution: Endemic to the Andaman Islands, India, where highly localised populations are known.
Description: Single-stemmed palm, up to 5 metres tall, with a slender trunk around 15 cm in diameter, pinnate leaves up to 2.4 metres long, with narrow leaflets regularly arranged in a single plane, few spines and oblong fruits.
