HIGH PLATEAU COCONUT PALM (Beccariophoenix alfredii)

California’s new coconut tree

This recently discovered and commercialized species is gaining enormous popularity in California. It is perhaps the most cold-hardy species within this genus, given that it grows at high altitudes, but at the same time it has the elegant appearance of a coconut tree thanks to its fine trunk, two qualities that are highly valued and sought after by all lovers of palm trees that live outside the intertropical belt.
