The impressive rain curtain effect

The name of this palm tree is due to its peculiar leaflets that, in already developed plants, fall vertically from the middle of the leaf creating a weeping curtain visual effect. This feature of the leaves makes of this species a unique spellbinding palm, and a fantastic choice for adorning gardens and parks, both as a solitary plant or, especially, in groups.

Habitat: Coastal areas, open jungle, and forest edges.

Distribution: Magnetic Island and east coast of Queensland

Description: Hermaphrodite, single-trunked palm tree, up to 15 meters, with a gray trunk with rings from the leaf scars, pale green costapalmate leaves 2.5-3 meters long, yellowish inflorescence and shiny black fruits.
