
Habitat: Rocky pine forests of Florida, growing on outcrops of oolitic limestone with very thin, well-drained soils.
Distribution: Southeastern Florida, mainly in the Miami-Dade area, United States.
Description: Solitary, virtually trunkless palm with an underground trunk, yellowish-green, strongly arching costapalmate leaves, loose and arching inflorescences with three orders of branching, and large black fruits up to 19 mm in diameter.
